Registration with JCC
Merchants wishing to apply for registration of their business with JCC may do so by following the simple procedure outlined below:
- send in an application via your banking institution of choice (application forms are available here or at all local bank branches)
- application is received and processed by JCC
- JCC representative visits merchant site to finalize all necessary details, such as contract signing and supply of desired equipment (manual imprinter and/or electronic POS terminal)
- (if required) JCC technical associate visits merchant site for installation of point-of-sale (POS) terminal, and provides the necessary training.
Authorisation Code
The authorisation code is a number provided by JCC stating that the said card product has available the amount for which authorisation was requested. This code is typically provided automatically by the merchant's electronic point-of-sale (POS) terminal. Should a merchant not have a POS terminal (i.e. manual imprinter only), then they must manually obtain an authorisation code for all transaction amounts above their stated floor limits by calling JCC's automated authorisation service at 22- 868000. Merchant's floor limits are individually stated in the contract signed at the time of registration with JCC.
Merchant Contracts
The merchant contracts state the binding agreement between JCC and said merchant as far as the rules and regulations governing the entire cycle of credit card transactions are concerned. These rules and regulations are based upon those dictated by the international bodies whose products we currently process. The merchant contracts also state the floor limits and JCC's initial Merchant Service Charge (MSC - commission rates).
Floor Limit
Floor limit is that transaction amount over which an authorisation code must be present for a transaction to be successfully processed.
MSC (commission rate)
The Merchant Service Charge is that percentage amount taken per transaction by JCC for all services rendered. These rates are generated after costing done in accordance with the rules and regulations of the international bodies whose products we currently process, taking into account local market competitive pricing.
