Stay alert.

Part of keeping your business safe is simply staying vigilant and understanding what makes a transaction suspicious. We’ve prepared a short list to get you started. Contact us immediately if you experience any of these issues. If you suspect a security threat that isn’t on this list, call our helpline immediately or fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

I think a transaction looks suspicious.
From time to time you may run across a suspicious transaction. Common red flags are:

  • A credit or debit card without the appropriate hologram or a card missing an expiration date
  • A card signature that doesn’t match the signature on an ID card
  • A card with an incorrect starting digit (either an American Express starting with 3, a Visa starting with 4, a MasterCard starting with 5 or a Discover starting with 6)
  • A POS displaying one of the following messages: Card Not Accepted, Call, Call Centre, Referrals, Pick Up, or No Match
  • First-time customers who seem distracted, tense, and/or are rushing their purchase(s)

If you experience any of the above, call our helpline and ask for a Code 10 Authorisation to verify the transaction.
